#JOESLONDONBUCKETLIST: 30 Adventures Before 30
I’m Joe – and I’ve challenged myself to complete 30 of the 50 activities in my book The London Bucket List before my 30th birthday. The challenge was set exactly 30 weeks before my birthday on 1 October. You can read about all of the activities I’ve completed so far here. You can download an electronic version of The London Bucket List at the bottom of this post – or buy the paperback here.
What is COMEDY VIRGINS?
London is spoilt for choice when it comes to fantastic free stand-up comedy nights, but the ‘Comedy Virgins’ shows at The Cavendish Arms are my personal favourite.
Comedy Virgins runs every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (although we attended a special edition event on a Sunday). The quality of the performances and the atmosphere was the best I’ve seen at an amateur comedy event.
How Was it?
A total of 20 acts took to the stage performing for five minutes each. At a free event with so many comedians, you’d usually expect a handful cringeworthy unfunny performances. That wasn’t the case here. Compere Ross Smith (pictured above without a face) did a great job of keeping the crowd engaged between acts too.
After each act, if the crowd like it, they shout, BUY THEM A DRINK! The compere will judge which comedians get the loudest shouts, and these performers will progress to the Comedy Virgins CLAP OFF.
Around half of the acts were bought drinks (it should have been more) and the whole event was deservedly won by a lovely blonde girl, speaking mostly about Beyonce and shagging.
I got up on stage myself to tell the story of the worst date I ever hard (a video link to the performance will be included in the next London Date Ideas email)
Is it a good date idea?
Even if neither of you are funny or charismatic, it’s likely you’ll leave Comedy Virgins having enjoyed a few belly laughs.
For that reason alone, it’s got to be rated as a fantastic date location.
Get to The Cavendish Arms to witness it for yourself.
